Support Work

At Advantage Disability Services, we understand the dynamic relationship between the psychological dimension and the social dimension of an individual.
Social support is identified as a fundamental component of solid relationships and strong psychological health.  We recognise that psychosocial support can be both preventive and curative to an individual.

Our ADS Psychosocial Support Workers facilitate and offer non-clinical social support in the home and community by various means tailored to the individual.
Our support workers work closely with each individual to assist in applying strategies and services which may include:

Capacity Building

In Home Support

Companionship

Community Participation

Social Engagement

Life Coaching & Personal Development

Transportation

These services may be exercised through the following:

Capacity Building

Assistance with finding/creating new interests or hobbies

Help develop the skills to engage with school, work, or employment

Teaching life skills such as housekeeping, social skills, cooking, and much more

In Home Support

Assistance with tasks at home – cooking, gardening, washing

Administering medication

Help improve motivation and make healthy changes

Companionship

Hobbies and outings

Being physically active/exercising

Company to talk and share with

Community Participation

Participation in community celebrations or events

Watching or participating in sporting events

Volunteering

Life Coaching & Personal Development

Assistance in setting goals and taking action to attain them

Learning a new skill

Helping to link with other support such as housing and employment services

Transportation

Attending appointments or engagements

Meeting friends or family for lunch or coffee

Visiting favourite places
