Does ADS provide travel allowances for support workers to go out to clients? +

At ADS we provide travel allowance for our support workers to go out to their clients

How many support workers service our community with ADS? +

ADS currently has a small team of 20 support workers in the Illawarra and Sydney region

What we expect from ADS support workers? +

Having a strong sense of mental health and its challenges is highly sort after in this position. As an ADS Psychosocial Support Worker you will be required to have emotional maturity to listen without judgment and a compassionate patient outlook to assist in the challenges of psychosocial clients. In this role you will assist and support the client in any chosen recreational activities and by attending appointments with them in the wider community.

What will my clients be like? +

Your clients will have a variety of mental health challenges and their ages may vary greatly. This may be from the elderly, frail & disabled to young children. They will need assistance in their everyday activities and support with daily challenges. Many will have some sort of developmental and or learning disability.

How many clients will you be providing support services to? +

In the beginning of your career with ADS you will start with 1 client. As you feel more comfortable you can increase your client load.

What is the duration of client sessions? +

The minimum duration of a session is 2 hours. However this can vary from client to client to meet specific needs and requirements. You will be given an estimated session time prior to seeing the client.

Your Schedule as a support worker +

Once you have met your client and you are both happy to move forward with support, together you will arrange a recurring schedule. Most commonly, our clients meet with our support workers once a week. However, there are circumstances where sessions will occur fortnightly, monthly or as a ‘one off’, as well as up to several times per week.

Expected Working days/hours +

ADS is a comprehensive service, whether you would like to work nights or weekends is completely up to you!

Requirements to be a Psychosocial support worker at ADS +

As a requirement to be a Psychosocial support worker, you will need a Degree in Psychology or Counselling (or working towards this) or a Certificate in Mental Health with relevant work experience. Oh, and a strong desire to want to help others!

We will get to work immediately on linking you with your ideal care support worker. Once we have logged your details and discussed your care requirements you can expect a profile match within 48 hours.

Its then is up to you, how you would like to meet and greet your worker. Is Advantage Disability Services an NDIS provider? +

We have applied to become a registered NDIS provider. Whilst this application is processing, we adhere to all of the current guidelines and procedures set out within the NDIA registered frameworks.

What is Advantage Disability Services cancellation policy? +

Advantage Disability Services has a 48 hour weekday cancellation policy, where 100% of the booked session is billable; subject to our cancellation policy and procedure. This is to protect our employee’s livelihoods, while ensuring our employees are accessible to you when you need them most.

Does Advantage Disability Services offer Support Coordination? +

Absolutely, we can offer you professional Support Coordination

Does Advantage Disability Services offer transportation during the time support is being given? +

Yes, all Advantage Disability Service support care staff can offer you transportation and have their own vehicle which are roadworthy, insured & registered. Our staff will use their own vehicles to transport you to appointments and outings etc.

Will you be charged for transportation by Advantage Disability Services? +

Yes, we charge $0.85 per KM

What type of funding does Advantage Disability Services accept? +

Advantage Disability Services accepts NDIS Funding, mental health care packages, health insurance & private funding.
